Cody's Wish
with Junior Alvarado

"Sometimes, dreams do come true."
-Bill Mott, Hall of Fame Trainer of Cody's Wish

It's the mystical story of a boy and a horse. Cody Dorman was a Kentucky teenager saddled with a rare genetic disorder that left him unable to speak or walk and a short life expectancy.
When times were especially tough, his family visited Godolphin's Gainsborough Farm, where during a chance meeting, a weanling son of Curlin laid his head in the young Cody's lap. The colt would be named Cody's Wish and for two years, he carried not only star jockey Junior Alvarado to eight stakes victories - but an entire racing industry along on a love story.
Cody's Wish captured the Mile event at two Breeders' Cup World Championships and the historic Met Mile, where he dominated White Abbario.
In his final career start - and with Cody watching from the stands at California's Santa Anita Park -- Cody's Wish snatched the 2023 Breeders' Cup Mile by a nose. The same nose he gently touched to Cody, causing the boy to erupt in laughter.
Sadly, Cody Dorman passed away on his return trip home, but Thoroughbred racing's fairy tale of "Cody Dorman & Cody's Wish" is certain to live on forever.
